-About-

There is a magnificence about bucking bulls. Inherent beauty and pride. Their athleticism is unbelievable, to be so big and to move the way they do. They are as varied as people are in personality and disposition. Even after a hundred lifetimes, I'd still be in awe of them.

Photos allow me to share the way I see them, a way to translate my viewpoint. The combination of my relationship with these animals, my knowledge, and my skill sets enable me to capture natural moments, to get shots that could not be obtained otherwise. I never set out to take a photo. It is during my everyday activities when something catches my eye that causes me to grab the camera. I do not use photo tricks or Photoshop. The animals are as they are, where they are.

I have been taking photos of my world for as long as I can remember. However, it wasn't until I captured a particular shot of a few wild little bucking stock calves in 2006 that this series really began. My subjects are always bulls, cows, calves, dogs, and horses in the stunning setting that we call home.

I've always had a natural relationship and ability with animals. I grew up on our family dairy farm where we also raised bucking bulls. When the dairy cows left years ago, the focus shifted to the bucking stock and beef. I attended Missouri State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science. Animals have always been and will be a major part of me, and I love to share the wonder of these creatures.

I have always been private about my photos. I resisted inquiries, and the fact that they could provide others a glimpse of this stunning beauty. I realize it was selfish to keep this world to myself—but they are personal to me, and I hold them dear because they are of all my beloveds. A change of heart was prompted by the passing of one of our storied and cherished bulls. Looking at a photo of him, I remembered that these photos are proof of existence and a way to share this beautiful world. That this exists. That this happened. These photos are a part of their legacy—the animals', this land's, my family's and mine.

This exists. This happened. As they are. Where they are. Authentically majestic.
